About Clearwater

Clearwater takes its name from the Ninnescah River, which curves around the west and south sides of town. The name comes from the Osage words for clear water. The Chisholm Trail passed along the east side of the settlement from 1867 to 1871, so trucks rolling through today are following a very old freight route.
