About Freeport

Freeport once had three lumberyards, two grain elevators, nine grocery stores and two hotels, with a peak population of about 700 in 1892. By 2017 it had eight residents and was the smallest incorporated city in Kansas, until voters dissolved the city that November. A grain elevator and a church still stand.
