About South Haven

South Haven was founded in 1872 and named after South Haven, Michigan, and the railroad reached town in 1879. It is the first Kansas town north of the Oklahoma line on US-81, and three US highways come together here.

South Haven Scales

The Kansas Highway Patrol's South Haven Scales sit on I-35 northbound at the south end of the turnpike. They are open weekdays from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., and they are the only fixed state weigh station in our service area. The phone number is 620-892-5249.
