About Cheney

Cheney was founded in 1883 on the Santa Fe's Wichita and Pratt line and named for railroad stockholder Benjamin P. Cheney. Today most people know it for Cheney Reservoir and Cheney State Park just north of town, and for the grain elevator that anchors the west side of Sedgwick County.
