About Burden

Burden was laid out in 1879 ahead of the Kansas City, Lawrence and Southern Railroad and named for Robert F. Burden, who helped survey it. The railroad, later part of the Santa Fe, arrived in 1882, and the post office went by Burdenville until 1884.
