About Nickerson

Nickerson was laid out in 1872 when the Santa Fe extended its line west, and it was named for railroad president Thomas Nickerson. A wooden bridge across the Arkansas River went up in 1879, and in 1955 scenes for the movie Picnic were filmed at houses in town.
